Scoil San Nioclás' Organic Vegetable Garden.
The organic vegetable garden is one of Scoil San Nioclás' successful projects, initiated in 2018 as part of the Healthy Schools in Ireland Project.
Spearheaded by Mrs. Caldwell, coordinator of the Promoting Healthy Schools Initiative, and ably assisted by Jean and Ms. Kirwan's class, who helped to plant, water and weed the plants as they grew. Indeed Sonas has played a very important role in the garden with Mrs. Ryan putting her own personal stamp on painting the vegetable bed and tyres!
In addition, following a student council recommendation, our crop of lettuce was harvested and provided lunch for the whole school! We also have spinach, carrots, potatoes and even strawberries! The original plants have been harvested and we have a reseeding of plants by 1st class.
